Freedom Park - Lagos
Freedom Park is a vibrant cultural and historical landmark located in Lagos, Nigeria, on Broad Street, Lagos Island. This 10.5-hectare park was formerly Her Majesty's Broad Street Prison, built in 1882, where Nigerian independence activists like Herbert Macaulay and Chief Obafemi Awolowo were detained. Transformed into a park in 2010 to commemorate Nigeria's 50th independence anniversary, Freedom Park preserves the site's history while serving as a hub for arts, music, and recreation.
